SOHOWireless
is very concerned about the privacy of LANRoamers who access the Internet
through LANRoamer Affiliates. We take steps to protect it when and where
ever possible.
1. As
with many organizations we do not share your e-mail address or specific
information about individual users with any third parties.
2. Our system is engineered so that your specific LANRoamer
login and password are encrypted from your specific device all the way to
our authentication servers. We have the highest regard for the ethics
and honesty of our wireless Affiliate Access Points, but even they can not
see your login and passwords for LANRoamer services.
3. We plan to implement a "cookie" option to allow you
to experience a faster login (no need to key in a login name and password)
but it is not used to track your activites, the sites you visit, or any of
your internet activities.
Unfortunately there are ways that your privacy can be compromised
that are beyond our control.
1. Wireless
networks are, by their nature, very sniffable. We can not assure that all the
data you send and receive at a LANRoamer Gateway hot zone is not also being
captured by a third party without either we or you being aware of it.
2. Some
of our sites may institute a protocol known as WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy)
which encrypts your messages from your wireless access card to the Access
Point antenna using either a 40 bit or 128 bit key. This is a "good
faith" effort, but unfortunately can not guarantee that a sophisticated
sniffer will not succeed in capturing your message traffic. We believe
it might be rare, but it is not
impossible.
